Partner Jane Kola comments in Professional Pensions on GMP equalisation

The cross-industry GMP Equalisation Working Group’s (GMPEWG) first batch of guidance has provided some certainty for the industry, yet many schemes remain sat on their laurels as they await further clarity from HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC).

The working group, which was set up in January by the Pensions Administration Standards Association, published guidance last week outlining good practice suggestions for schemes on how they can achieve GMP equality.

Jane Kola commented: “We’ve kicked the GMP can down the road for 28 years; let’s not kick it any further.”
