Nigel trained at a national firm before joining the pensions practice of a leading global law firm in 2008. He joined ARC Pensions Law in May 2017.

Nigel advises corporates and trustees across the full range of pension issues from compliance and governance to funding (including asset backed funding structures), security, and scheme redesign (including merger, reconstruction and closure projects).

He has particular expertise in advising on the pension aspects of corporate activity including intra-group reorganisations, acquisitions, disposals (including ‘pre-packs’), joint ventures, IPOs and group refinancing.

Nigel also has significant experience in negotiating the terms of third party agreements including those relating to administration, investment management, provider platforms and custody.

Nigel is a member of the APL and PMI and has contributed to articles in the pensions and actuarial press.

In the 2014 Budget, the Chancellor announced changes, effective from April 2015, to existing tax rules, paving the way for a radical overhaul in how defined contributions pension savings are accessed.
