Managing Partner Anna Copestake interviewed by Pensions Age
Our Managing Partner Anna Copestake has been interviewed by Pensions Age on work/life balance, life at Arc, and her career in pensions law.
Anna explains that her pensions career began “almost by accident” during her training contract at Jones Day, after a conversation with a pensions partner led to her working closely with the firm’s pensions team. Drawn to the technical and commercial aspects of the work, she “never looked back”.
Anna discusses the decision to join Arc in the firm’s early days, leaving a well-established pensions practice as a senior associate to become part of what was then the “new kid on the block”. She explains that the opportunity to help build a business, rather than simply be part of one, was central to her decision to join Arc and remains something she values today. She has since become a partner, joined the equity and in July last year she took on the role of Managing Partner.
Discussing her current role, Anna describes how her week spans recruitment and business development, financial management, HR and regulatory work, alongside working with clients and the wider pensions industry. She reflects on the importance of supporting colleagues to develop their careers and helping to shape Arc’s future, describing building a collaborative business with an entrepreneurial spirit as particularly rewarding.
Throughout her interview Anna also shares how she balances her role with life with two young children, as well as her interests in music, piano and reformer pilates – and reveals why she now knows rather more about tractors than she ever expected…
