Anne-Marie Winton comments in Professional Pensions re Does the pensions watchdog need sharper teeth?
The Pensions Regulator (TPR) has some heavyweight powers to force sponsors of defined benefit (DB) schemes to cough up more money if it thinks members’ benefits are in danger.
Anne-Marie comments in Professional Pensions that TPR can resolve funding disputes by developing soft skills. “Traditionally in my experience the regulator speaks to trustees and the company but rarely do they engage both and have a tripartite conversation. If you want to bring parties together the best thing to do is talk to them at the same time.”
